I've been meaning to do more of my programming and thinking in the public for a long time, but I don't feel comfortable using social media for various reasons. Many computer programmers who abstain from using social media say that they don't want to use software that does not respect its users. I agree with this assessment, but that's not the main reason for why I have had such a low profile. When I was a teenager, I did not hesitate to sign up for social media accounts. Soon afterwords, I discovered that I did not like how being on those websites made me feel, and I especially did not like how writing posts or comments made me feel.Even now, I don't even like posting on anonymous textboards...perhaps others get used to this reluctance to post online over time? Whatever it is, I appreciate the posts, videos, and writings other people have contributed to the web. If others weren't so chatty online, I wouldn't be able to learn as much as I do.
Which brings me to the plan for this website. I'd like to use this as a place for me to put some of my writings and programs. I think programming can be a lonely activity and it is good for me to feel like I am writing to my peers, even if the communication is unfortunately one-sided. Nevertheless, I'd be happy to hear from anyone who wants to send me a message.

The HTML used in this website is generated from a tool that I've built for myself called Muscovy. Muscovy is a small programming language that allows me to write literate programs. It was created just to scratch my own itch, but I will describe the programming language and its implementation for anyone interested once I set up a page for it on this cite.
